The conference can be divided into three parts: prevention, treatment, and infrastructure support. The majority of the conference that I attended focused on the treatment part.
Day 1
Kick start with the design thinking that creates the prototype for the instrument used in surgical work. According to the speaker, desirability, feasibility, and economics were the main guiding principles for this work.
The second talk was by ToaBin CEO, who mentioned that to be able to create new innovation, the organization must work fast, and the infrastructure must be ready to support the fast and competitive pace in this field.
Life-balance: As talked about by the SI dean, he mentioned that lifelong learning was the key factor in this day as knowledge has been disrupted through the coming of ChatGPT. Besides, he also mentioned the 5 Is of good leadership; 1) integrity 2) initiative, 3) intelligence, 4) intuition, 5) interpersonal—it is very crucial that the leadership have a clear vision.
Talk by the head of TDRI – the best performance organization will consist of excellence personnel and AI.
CEB in the afternoon - this department mostly talked on data warehouses, which they used the in- and out-pateint to analyze the relationship between extracted features and disease progression (T2D, hypertension, cardiovascular disease).
Telomere
He mentioned a bit of compression of morbidity and the way that his center wanted to establish a preventive approach on the NCD; know your genetics to adapt the behavior toward a healthy lifestyle.
Gerology
Focusing on health inequality as they learned through the field trip with the nurse students.
Day 2
Cancer
The major obstacle to this disease was heterogeneity. Thus, the speaker thought that using an immunological approach would be an effective way to tackle the heterogeneity, as the immune system can adapt itself to fight against the diversity of tumor mass.
Tumor biobank
The speaker (head of the tumor biobank) wanted to increase the standard of collecting the tumor mass. Thus, she is now asking for ISO 20378 in order to standardize the system and increase the reliability of the quality of specimens.
Honor talk – Dr. Suradej Hongeng
He had a very clear vision of what he would like to do and knew how to build up the team. His research has focused on transplantation and cell-based therapy. He has made great progress from translational research to entrepreneurship.
SCG
He talked about innovative thinking, which was pretty much the same as the speaker on Day 1. Just mentioning the workflow in his company. However, there was a key thing that he added on the development of innovation: 1) functional 2) emotional 3) spiritual: if the innovation could answer these three key aspects, it would make the customer feel engaged with the products.
Multimanagement toward HCC
I just learned that HCV could initiate HCC directly, not through cirrhosis. There were many MDs involved in curing the HCC, as it was very complex once it reached state three. From my point of view, I have learned that there have been new treatments for radiotherapy, like hot and cold treatment directly through the tumor mass. But it must be guided by radiation.
Day 3
VR-based education
The whole morning session involved VR-based education. I will focus on the suggestions on this issue. The clip should be short, the internet connection must be stable, the cleanliness of Google has to be mentioned, and the angle and storyboard should be taken into consideration.
Home chemotherapy
It is good work to improve the quality of life of patients with CAs. It requires teamwork, support from the executive team, and feedback from the patients.
AI for muscle and nerve pathobiology
Basically, the speaker wanted to use image processing to facilitate routine work in diagnostic conditions related to muscle and nerve-related diseases.
Methylation in stool specimen
Recelty, there are more and more evidences which relate the methylation status to the CA progression, especially CRC. Thus, the speaker wanted to use this as a tool to diagnostic as this approach is considered non-invasive.
